Then he has worked at the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications
(IIT)
of NCSR “Demokritos”, as a Senior Researcher until 1994 and as Research
Director until now. During
this period he has been head of the Mobile Communications Laboratory, co-ordinator of five national and international R&D projects and
participated in more than fifteen other projects. His published work includes
more than 80 publications in technical journals or proceedings of international
conferences, as well as many studies and technical reports.
All these years he has been elected as member of the Scientific Advisory
Board of the Institute and Chairman of this Board (for six years), also head of
the Telecommunications Sector for several years and Acting Director of the
Institute (for one year).
For many
years he
has been teaching Telecommunications courses for post graduate students of IIT and, for more than ten years,
Communications Theory and Cellular Systems in courses for postgraduate students
at the Department of Physics /
His recent R&D activities and
interest focus in the following:
·
Signal propagation in mobile communication systems, path
loss prediction models (evaluation of existing and development of new, improved
models based on processing of radio coverage measurements data.
·
Interaction between human body and antenna, development of new methods for measurement of
electromagnetic fields and protection from exposure to electromagnetic
radiation, design of new antennas offering better performance and less human
exposure to electromagnetic radiation.
·
Smart antennas and Multiple Input Multiple Output (ÌÉÌÏ) systems: antenna
design, development and characterization, wearable antennas, wireless channel
analysis/modeling and system level evaluation.
·
Air Interface of modern telecommunications systems,
evolution and integration of them in systems of third or fourth generation, software
radio, ultra wideband communications.
