Stefanos Plastras is a Research Associate at the FRONT Research Group of the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications (IIT), National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (NCSRD), Greece.
His work focuses on advanced architecture for Beyond 5G (B5G) and 6G networks, including participation in European Space Agency (ESA) and EU-funded HORIZON (SNS-JU, Cluster 4) projects, with a strong involvement in project management, proposal writing, and technical contributions.
His research emphasizes 6G Core Network design, B5G APIs Development, Core Openness and Exposure, standardization, and intelligent networking methodologies.
His scientific interests include radio resource allocation for integrated Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks (TN-NTN), with a strong focus on Quality of Service (QoS) optimization using Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and optimization algorithms.
He received the M.Eng. (Integrated Master) degree in Information and Communication Systems Engineering from the University of the Aegean, and the M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He has worked at INTRACOM TELECOM S.A. as a Software Developer and served as a teaching associate at the University of the Aegean, supporting undergraduate courses in telecommunications and computer networks. He has also been involved in ESA proposals management, contributing to the preparation and coordination of satellite communications and B5G-related projects.
Stefanos is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE-TCG), a reviewer for IEEE and Springer journals, and an active member of the IEEE.
