inStore was the third online simulation by SimuWorld, targeting the e-training and education market at level
of retail management. SimuWorld designed the game in order to be an online and interactive learning experience,
which would help sales and management personnel to improve their retail management skills.

The game strives to be as interactive and challenging as possible, featuring video sequences of a mentor,
a knowledge bank, online news and a chat facility to allow players to communicate with each other. inStore
progresses in 9 periods/months and at the end of each month players can take decisions and review the results
of the previous month(s). The mentor informs the player of upcoming events, comments on the decisions and results
and provides the players with feedback and tips on their decisions/results/performance. Teams compete with
each other for the biggest market share, which is the primary objective of the game.

From a technical point of view, inStore is a web application deployed on the SimuWorld infrastructure.
Accounts are created when the trainer starts a new game and players login into the system to play
the game. A simulation engine collects the players' decisions, calculates the results and via the SimuWorld
Trainer delivers them to the inStore web interface. The user interface is built with DHTML/Javascript,
and the backend in ASP/SQL Server 2000.
